Brimstone Hill Fortress. Considered the finest example of British colonial era military architecture, Brimstone Hill was built atop a dormant volcano beginning in the 1690's and completed in the late 1700's. It was abandoned by the military in the 1860's and fell into disrepair. A renewed interest in preservation brought attention to it in the 1980's and it is slowly being restored.
